February 2026: Finding Your Voice - IWIRC event

Guest speaker at an event put together by IWIRC (International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation), and hosted at Freshfield’s London offices in February 2026.
 
An event aimed at Early Career Professionals looking to build confidence, improve communication skills and develop professional presence. The session focused on the importance of finding your voice, what to use it for, how to use it and also understanding when to use it, all aimed at navigating the workplace with greater impact.

Junior lawyer burnout: What’s behind it, and how can you avoid it?

Part of a panel speaking at Legal Cheek’s annual LegalEdCon, a conference bringing together professionals from across the country directly involved with graduate recruitment, learning & development and early careers. This year’s key themes included AI, applications, burnout and SQE apprenticeships. 

I argued that:

  • meaningful change needs to come from the top, and it will take brave leaders to take the first step;
  • true cultural shifts will require a balance between: (i) the way in which firms reward their highest billers; and (ii) the ongoing focus on fostering the culture and environment firms are striving for; and 
  • to achieve this, we need a complete rethink: not just of how we support juniors, but of how we incentivise and remunerate senior leaders.
